Formed in 2012, The SHSA club is a small friendly sea fishing club, based in Allonby, West Cumbria. We hold regular boat and beach events throughout the summer (weather and tides permitting). Check out our gallery for the fish caught by our members. If you would like to join our club please feel free to contact us. Membership is open to all and costs just £2 to join.
The Solway offers good fishing including plaice, flounder, dab, cod, codling, pollock, whiting, dogfish, pollock, sea bass, mackerel, Tope, Ray, Spurdog, Smoothound and Bull Huss.
Fishing Boat Trips
Fishing trips are usually 5 or 10 hours and we can cater for individuals or groups of up to 8 people. We can provide rods, reels, tackle and bait. Planned trips will be posted on Facebook.
To participate on boat trips you must first become a SHSA club member. Club members are expected to contribute towards the cost of fuel, tackle replacement and some bait.
All trips take place in fair weather.
Join the Club
Membership of the Ship Hotel Sea Anglers club costs just £2.
As well as being eligible to join our fishing boat trips, as a SHSA club member you can also enter our beach fishing competitions. These are held throughout the summer from Allonby bay and Silloth, weather and tides permitting. Prizes are offered for largest fish caught as well as the highest number of fish caught. Only 2 hooks per line are allowed.
